Called The Peninsula of Charleston, the luxury independent living residence will feature concierge services, high-end amenities, and healthcare. The facility is offering seniors the unique opportunity of owning their units and its the first of its kind in Charleston.

However, the cost may surprise some, with the cheapest units costing just under $1 million.

Members can own their unit, providing them the opportunity to sell their residence or designate it as an inheritance.

The minimum age requirement is 62 and it will feature more than 140 residences ranging from 700 to 3,500 square feet.

“People that have lived in Charleston, love Charleston, and want to stay involved in Charleston, now have the option to stay in their beloved city,” said Paige Crone, the director of marketing and sales for The Peninsula of Charleston. “They can walk to great restaurants, shop, and feel like they are in the middle of the Charleston. They don’t have to be removed from that just because they are in a senior living facility.”

The project is expected to break ground in 2024.
